Holy Savings Batman!!!

Ok, yesterday I went to Walmart and bought 3 sweet potatoes. I peeled, cut, and boiled them, then put them in my blender with a little bit of water. Next I filled ice cube trays with lids and froze them over night. Voila! 36 servings of sweet potatoes for Evelyn!

Here's the fabulousness about it! I stopped and looked at baby food at Target today. A two-pack of sweet potatoes that are organic from Gerber cost $.96. Add tax it's over a dollar. I made 36 servings (12 times that) for $3 and 30 minutes of my time. That is 1/6 the cost of buying them! And Evelyn loves the food and it's perfect!!!

HURRAY!

  1. Ask Miss Kendra about baby food. She rocked the homemade icecube thing. I will totally be making these for future baby some day!

  2. I loved making Wy food! (My adviceis stay away from fresh green beans though, they are a pain in the butt to destring!) But I would make it, stick it into ice cude trays because its perfect for portions, freeze, then stick in ziplock baggies and take out and heat what was needed. Mango, squash, sweet potatoes, blueberries (the juice was good for him too!), gosh lots and lots of foods. I think i spent about $30 and that lasted us over 2 months of food. There is a website with baby food recipes, I need to go look up and I'll post for you!

  6. The best thing is, you know exactly what is in that food. It's great for making sure you know what your kid is allergic to. No pesticides or chemical treatments that could cause a reaction and no preservatives that could make it harder on their stomach. Evelyn is on rice cereal and sweet potatoes right now. However, after this week, we're going to see what she thinks about avacado too.
